He will conduct the Cordoba Symphony Orquestra (Argentina), November 2024.

Premieres

His new opera D'Artagnan will be premiered in Bilbao and Pamplona in December 2024 and January 2025.

Conductor

He studied conducting at the Vienna Conservatoire with Julius Kalmar and at the Royal Academy of Music in London with Sir Colin Davis, George Hurst, John Carewe and Colin Metters, and choral conducting with Horst Neuman. In 1988 he started his association with the Navarra Symphony Orchestra. The following year would see his debut with the Basque National Orchestra. During his time in London he established The European Sinfonia Orchestra. Also, he has conducted the Latvia Philharmonic, in Riga. In May 1995 he made a tour around the Basque Country with the National Orchestra of Russia for the celebration of the centenary of Carl Orff. He has toured Japan and Poland. He has conducted the Musikene Symphony Orchestra in Mahler’s Symphony No. 1 and the opera Las Golondrinas by Usandizaga, with the collaboration of Orfeón Donostiarra.

Composer

He studied composition with Agustin González Acilu and Francisco Escudero, Tomás Marco, Cristóbal Halffter, Javier Darias and Mauricio Sotelo. He received numerous composition prizes and his works have been performed by the leading orchestras and soloists of Spain.

Echeverría has conducted and recorded opera, zarzuela (Spanish operetta) and symphonic-choral works.

At the present time he is professor of music analysis at MUSIKENE (Basque Country Advanced Centre of Music). He is the Principal Conductor of the La Rioja Symphony Orchestra.
